In a scathing indictment of her political rivals, former Union minister Harsimrat Kaur Badal has accused the Congress and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) of being mere facades for each other, while branding the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) as the "new Congress" in Punjab. In contrast, she asserted, the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) remains the only party that will contest the upcoming parliamentary elections based on unwavering principles.

During a series of rallies in Bathinda, which saw a substantial influx of Congress workers joining the SAD ranks, Badal exposed the duplicity of her adversaries. "The Congress and AAP may engage in joint protests in Delhi, but they are deceiving the people of Punjab by feigning animosity in the state," she remarked.
