Former union minister and Bathinda MP Harsimrat Kaur Badal accused the Congress and AAP of being two sides of the same coin, while terming the BJP as the new Congress in Punjab. She asserted that the SAD was the only party contesting the parliamentary elections on principles, even as she criticized the BJP for importing Congressmen into its ranks for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
Akali Dal Leader Denounces Duplicity of Congress and AAP, Hails SAD for Standing Firm on Principles
Bathinda, Punjab - April 01, 2023
In a scathing indictment of her political rivals, former Union minister Harsimrat Kaur Badal has accused the Congress and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) of being mere facades for each other, while branding the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) as the "new Congress" in Punjab. In contrast, she asserted, the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) remains the only party that will contest the upcoming parliamentary elections based on unwavering principles.
During a series of rallies in Bathinda, which saw a substantial influx of Congress workers joining the SAD ranks, Badal exposed the duplicity of her adversaries. "The Congress and AAP may engage in joint protests in Delhi, but they are deceiving the people of Punjab by feigning animosity in the state," she remarked.
Equally damning was her assessment of the BJP. "The party has abandoned its moral compass and become the new Congress in Punjab," Badal stated. "They have welcomed Congress members into their ranks and granted them Lok Sabha tickets in a desperate bid for power."
Undeterred, Badal expressed confidence that Punjabis would recognize the deceptive tactics of her rivals. "The SAD alone stands firmly on principles," she declared. "We may sacrifice power, but we will never abandon our convictions. We stand with the farmers and the underprivileged, not for personal gain or political office."
She pledged that the SAD would continue to champion the causes of the marginalized and fight for justice. "We will never compromise on the legitimate aspirations of Punjabis or the state's rightful demands," Badal asserted.
Badal's remarks were punctuated by a pointed criticism of the neglect suffered by Bathinda constituency and the city under both Congress and AAP rule. "Neither party has secured a single major project for Bathinda in the past seven years," she lamented.
Joining Badal in her campaign were a delegation of prominent SAD leaders, including Former Mayor Baljit Singh Bir Behman, Babli Dhillon, Anoop Kular, Daljit Singh Brar, and Rajbinder Singh Advocate.
