The match started with a bang as the visitors from Bedarieux, fresh from their victory over Espalion in the previous round, surged into the Lislois territory, scoring an unconverted try in the corner within the first four minutes.
However, the tables turned swiftly as the Lislois, adorned in their traditional blue and black, rallied with a penalty kick in the 22nd minute, followed by a well-crafted try from Romain Gautier after a superbly executed lineout.
The remainder of the first half was characterized by an exchange of penalties, with both teams committing numerous fouls. At the halftime whistle, Bédarieux held a narrow lead of 14-11.
In the second half, the Lislois seized control of the match, relentlessly applying pressure on their opponents. Ali Miradji, a mercurial Mahoran winger, ignited the Lislois attack with a breathtaking try in the corner in the 53rd minute.
The scoring frenzy continued as Zineddine Montoya extended the lead in the 66th minute, followed by a try between the posts from Teikiheetini Paperin in the 75th minute. Gregory Botella capped off the victory with the final try of the match in the dying seconds, securing a resounding 35-17 triumph.
While the scoreline may suggest a comfortable victory for Lislois, Bedarieux fought valiantly throughout the match, never giving up despite the mounting pressure.
With this hard-earned victory, Lislois have booked their place in the semifinals, where they will face the formidable Saint-Jory/Bruguières team on Saturday, April 27, at 5 PM. The venue for the semifinal is yet to be determined but is expected to be within a reasonable distance for the loyal blue and black supporters.
