Man Claims He “Got Scammed” by Blinkit After Receiving a 0.5 Gram Gold Coin Instead of a 1 Gram Gold Coin

A man has claimed that he “got scammed” by Blinkit after he received a 0.5 gram gold coin instead of a 1 gram gold coin that he had placed an order for from Malabar Gold and Diamonds through the quick-commerce platform.

Mohit Jain narrated his plight in a post on Facebook and said that he had placed an order for a 1 gram silver coin as well, apart from a 1 gram gold coin, through Blinkit. In his post, he also shared a picture of the gold coin that he had received as well as a screenshot of his order summary on the app.

Explaining the incident, Jain said: “I ordered 1 gm gold coin from Blinkit, along with the 1gm silver coin. It was all prepaid. I wasn't there at home to receive the order, so I gave the OTP to my younger brother to get it received. After 20 minutes, I reached home and saw wrong item was delivered I. I got 0.5gm Malabar gold coin (rose design). What I ordered was 1 gm Mata Lakshmi gold coin.”

Shocked, Jain attempted to complain but the return window had expired by then because of which he could not contact a support executive as well. He, in fact, broke down while speaking to the delivery man but in vain.

“Aur 20 minutes baad return window has been closed, I can't contact any support executive. Maine delivery waale ko call lagaya, I literally cried while talking to him. Uske paas delivery karne se pehle woh coin ke pictures hai par usne kaha woh kuch nahi kar sakta even after knowing he delivered me wrong item,” Jain added.

After his post went viral, Blinkit contacted Jain as he said in an update in the comments section: “Just got a call from their customer support and now they are getting it returned. Had to draft a mail to their customer support ID and got response too.”

While several social media users slammed Blinkit for delivering the wrong product and shared similar experiences, many others said that buying gold online is not a good decision.

“Why on this earth would anybody buy gold online? No matter how reliable or big the brand is, you just can't afford any kind of blunder,” a user said.
