Aside from world-class performances of "Masskara Festival" dancers, spectators are drawn repeatedly to the City of Smiles because of the good food, or savory food items, in Bacolod City.

Bacolod Chicken Inasal Tops the List of Must-Try Food Items in the City of Smiles

Bacolod City is renowned for its vibrant "Masskara Festival," which features world-class performances by dancers. However, the city also attracts visitors time and again due to its delectable cuisine.

"Chicken inasal" (grilled chicken) is a must-try dish in Bacolod City. It has even been recognized as the Number 1 dish out of the Top 100 Filipino dishes by an online travel guide.

Other unique food items that have impressed foodies include the Ten-yen cheese coin, a local version of pancake-like bread filled with melted mozzarella cheese and shaped like a 10-yen coin.

"Once they get to eat it, they will really enjoy it because when they eat it, they can stretch it," said Risa Genovia, a food entrepreneur.

Visitors can also choose from a wide variety of refreshing drinks, including fresh juices, shakes, and coffee, to quench their thirst.

Throughout the festival, visitors were seen bonding with their friends, loved ones, and relatives over good food and drinks at the Lacson Tourism Strip before heading to the grand festivity on Sunday, October 27, 2024.

"To unwind and enjoy the food. To see different people and other places," said Rose Esdano, a tourist, when asked about her purpose in coming to Bacolod City.

Meanwhile, stall owners who experienced the effects of the inclement weather in the lead-up to the grand day capitalized on the influx of foodies into the city.

"We have prepared 'inasal.' Let's meet up later and have some fun," said Christian Soriaga, a stall owner.
