Three men have gone on trial accused of an 'armed attack' at the village home of a man in his sixties.

Garri Collins, 42, Paul Fay, 43, and Rashid Nahal, 42, are charged with aggravated burglary and Section 18 – wounding with intent. It is alleged that on July 23 last year, the trio entered a property in Westfield Road, Wheatley, and injured Ronald Yeates whilst stealing items from the home.

The Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) state the trio then made off in a black Mercedes with fake plates before being pursued by police.

The men have denied the charges.

During the trial on Wednesday (January 15), a witness statement was read out from police constable Matthew Stansfield.

He states he was on duty the night of the incident when a black Mercedes was flagged at Beaconsfield Service Stations, off junction two on the M40, as being involved in an aggravated burglary.

The officer attended the services as the vehicle was pulling back onto the motorway.

“As soon as we approached the rear, it increased the speed around 100mph and used lane one to undertake vehicles travelling in lane three,” said the officer.

"Over the next eight minutes or so, I engaged in a pursuit with the vehicle…it travelled in excess of 100mph travelling across all lanes.

"We were at points of travelling at speeds of around 130mph.”

The constable stated the vehicle left the M40 to the M25 before 'taking a last second hard right' and rejoining the motorway.

“It appeared to be swerving and appeared to not be in control,” added PC Stansfield.

The officer stated the car then turned to the A40 where armed vehicles took over the pursuit.

Later in the evening, the Mercedes then crashed on Church Avenue in Islip.

The jury were shown footage of the trio being arrested and Collins, who was allegedly driving, could be seen in the police body footage with blood on his face.

Collins, of Headstone Drive, Harrow, has been charged with one count each of aggravated burglary, Section 18 – wounding with intent, driving a motor vehicle dangerously, and failing to provide a specimen for analysis.
