A vast and peculiar collection of antique toys, previously owned by David Finn from Nottinghamshire, has been sold at auction for a total of £199,700.

The haul, which comprised of 501 items made out of wood, papier-mâché, or composition, depicted soldiers, animals, and everyday people - but usually showed them in unusual circumstances.

Mr Finn, who died at the age of 81 in 2023, had spent decades amassing the collection.

After his death, the toys went on sale on March 12 with Special Auction Services in Newbury, Berkshire, with bidders from around the globe tuning in to buy the unique artifacts.

According to Special Auction Services, bidders travelled from "all over the world" to see the collection.
