Union Saint-Gilloise misses the mark in Mechelen (1-1)

After qualifying for the round of 16 of the Belgian Cup, Union Saint-Gilloise missed the mark this Saturday in Mechelen (1-1).

L'Union Saint-Gilloise a concédé le nul (1-1) sur la pelouse de Malines, samedi, lors des seizièmes de finale de la Coupe de Belgique. Les deux équipes s'étaient qualifiées pour les huitièmes de finale en début de semaine.

Union Saint-Gilloise conceded a draw (1-1) on the lawn of Mechelen on Saturday during the round of 16 of the Belgian Cup. Both teams qualified for the round of 16 earlier this week.

Les Unionistes ont pourtant pris un bon départ dans la rencontre, avec une première action dangereuse devant le but adverse, repoussée par Belghali. Le KV a couru derrière un ballon insaisissable dans cette première phase, mais les occasions n'ont pas permis à l'Union de concrétiser sa domination.

The Unionists, however, got off to a good start in the match, with a first dangerous action in front of the opposing goal, repelled by Belghali. KV ran behind an elusive ball in this first phase, but the chances did not allow the Union to realize their domination.

A la moitié de la rencontre, l'Union menait au score et le méritait amplement. Après la mi-temps, c'est à nouveau l'Union qui prenait le meilleur départ et ne laissait guère le KV entrer dans son match. Avant l'heure de jeu, Raman a manqué l'égalisation à deux reprises à bout portant.

Halfway through the match, the Union were leading and fully deserved it. After half-time, it was once again Union who got off to the best start and hardly let KV get into their game. Before the hour mark, Raman missed the equalizer twice from close range.

Le joueur de couloir semblait souffrir d'une blessure apparemment grave au genou. Dans le temps additionnel, Lauberbach a enregistré le raté de la journée, tandis que les supporters de Malines ont montré leur pire côté (pour la deuxième semaine consécutive après l'incident des feux d'artifice).

The lane player appeared to be suffering from an apparently serious knee injury. In added time, Lauberbach recorded the miss of the day, while the Mechelen fans showed their worst side (for the second week in a row after the fireworks incident).

Le match a été temporairement arrêté, ce qui a permis au KV de reprendre la main. Dans les dernières secondes, un coup de pied de coin était prolongé au second poteau et Touba se rattrapait en égalisant à 1-1.

The match was temporarily stopped, which allowed KV to regain control. In the final seconds, a corner kick was extended to the far post and Touba made up for it by equalizing at 1-1.
