HYDERABAD, India - In a shocking turn of events, Pegineni Rajesh, a senior scientist at the renowned Nuziveedu Seeds company, has been arrested along with 13 accomplices in a massive illegal gambling operation in Medchal, Hyderabad.

Acting on a tip-off, a joint operation between the Cyberabad Special Operations Team (SOT) and Medchal police raided a flat in Kandlakoya Teachers Colony on Sunday. Inside, they discovered 14 individuals engaged in high-stakes gambling, including Rajesh, who allegedly organized the illicit activity.

During the raid, authorities seized a staggering sum of Rs 53,510 in cash and plastic gambling coins worth an additional Rs 61,620. The investigators also confiscated 36 sets of playing cards and 13 mobile phones as evidence.

According to SOT officials, Rajesh had been running this illegal gambling syndicate for the past three years, generating substantial profits. He reportedly conducted up to 50 gambling games per day, charging Rs 1,000 per game and imposing an additional commission for organizing the events.

To participate in the games, each player was required to pay an advance of Rs 20,000 in exchange for plastic gambling coins. These coins were assigned different values: a number 100 coin was worth Rs 2,000, a number 50 coin was worth Rs 1,000, and so on.

Investigators revealed that Rajesh's gambling operation was meticulously planned and highly profitable. They estimated that he had amassed significant wealth through these illegal activities, which were conducted under the guise of a legitimate business venture.

The arrest of a respected scientist in a high-stakes gambling operation has sent shockwaves through the scientific and academic communities. It highlights the growing menace of illegal gambling and the lengths to which individuals are willing to go to profit from illicit activities.
