A fascinating southern rivalry is on the cards when Kerala Blasters take on Chennaiyin FC in an Indian Super League match here on Sunday.

Kerala Blasters vs Chennaiyin FC: Southern Rivalry Promises Fireworks in Indian Super League Clash

Kerala Blasters will be aiming to extend their impressive home record when they host a resurgent Chennaiyin FC in an Indian Super League (ISL) clash at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium here on Sunday.

The Blasters have not lost a single match at home this season, winning two and drawing two of their four outings. They will be aiming to equal the longest goal-scoring run at home by any side in the tournament's history with a strike against Chennaiyin.

Kerala have scored in each of their previous 14 home matches, a run that began in January 2022. Only three other teams have managed to score in 15 or more consecutive home matches in the ISL - Bengaluru FC (17), Chennaiyin FC (16) and Delhi Dynamos (15).

On the other hand, Chennaiyin have won their last two matches and will be aiming to register three consecutive wins for the first time since the 2019-20 season.

The Marina Machans have scored 16 goals this season, their highest after eight meetings in any season. They have also averaged 25.3 touches per game inside the rival box in the ongoing campaign, showcasing their relentless pursuit to hunt for breakthroughs.

Chennaiyin won their previous contest against the Blasters 1-0 in February, putting an end to their seven-match winless streak against the Tuskers. If they manage to beat Kerala again on Sunday, it will be the first time since 2019-20 that they will record successive victories against them.

The two teams have met 22 times in the ISL, with the Tuskers and Marina Machans winning on six and seven occasions, respectively. Nine of those encounters have ended in a stalemate.

Kick-off: 7.30 pm IST
