In a brazen daylight robbery that has sent shockwaves through the community, thousands of dollars worth of rare coins were stolen during a smash-and-grab vehicle break-in outside a Castle Shannon convenience store on Sunday.

Surveillance footage, released by authorities, captures the audacious act that took place at the 7-Eleven on Library Road at approximately 7:00 PM. As the victim, who had just left a coin show at the Castle Shannon Volunteer Fire Department across the street, stepped into the store to quench his thirst, the unthinkable occurred.

Within mere minutes, upon his return to his vehicle, the victim discovered the passenger-side windows shattered and his prized coin collection, along with jewelry and cash, vanished into thin air.

"It was a very brazen act because the entire time, it was during daylight hours and there were people in the vicinity in eyesight actually pumping gas," said Castle Shannon police Officer Justin Majors.

According to police, a woman entered the store as a lookout while her accomplice swiftly broke the car windows and ransacked the interior, making off with the precious coins, jewelry, and cash.

"We ask that people be vigilant to their surroundings. I mean, there clearly had to be some noise associated with this due to the windows being broken," Majors emphasized.

Investigators believe that the thieves fled the scene in a 2024 black Ford Escape bearing Tennessee license plate BPK 4275. The surveillance images released by police show the woman suspected of being the lookout, providing a crucial clue to the investigation.
