Binance Donates $3M to Spanish Red Cross to Support Flood Relief Efforts

Relentless rainfall drenched Spain's eastern coastal province of Valencia on October 29, with some areas seeing up to 20 inches of water.

Binance Donates $3M to Aid Flood Victims in Spain

Binance is donating $3 million to the Spanish Red Cross to aid in relief efforts following the devastating floods that hit the Valencia region in Spain.

The heavy rainfall and subsequent flash floods began on October 29, wreaking havoc in eastern Spain. Valencia was particularly hard hit, with at least 217 lives lost and many still missing. Emergency teams are working tirelessly to locate survivors and provide assistance to the affected communities.

Binance Shows Solidarity with Flood-Ravaged Region

Binance’s donation will provide much-needed support for these efforts. The funds will be used to provide immediate resources for those impacted by the disaster and to aid in the recovery process.

“We aim to bring relief and assistance to the people who need it most,” said Javier García de la Torre, general manager for Binance Spain.

Those wishing to contribute directly to the relief efforts can do so through the Spanish Red Cross donation page, which allows individuals around the world to lend a helping hand.

Local Anger Boils Over Lack of Warning, Slow Response

As the search for survivors and the cleanup continue, tensions have escalated among locals who are expressing their anger over the lack of warning about the heavy rainfall and the slow response from authorities post-disaster.

Frustrated residents say they feel abandoned, sparking unrest in the affected areas. On Sunday, King Felipe and Queen Letizia visited the region but were met with jeers and pelts of mud and eggs as locals vented their frustration. Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez also faced a backlash, with footage showing his car being attacked as security evacuated him from the area.

In response, the Spanish government has deployed an additional 2,500 troops, bringing the total military presence to roughly 7,800, alongside 9,500 National Guard and police personnel.

Binance’s donation is providing some relief during this difficult time amid the growing discontent with local authorities.
