The World No. 1 and No. 3 earned a tidy sum of prize money in the process, which was paid out in the cryptocurrency CRO thanks to tournament sponsor Crypto.com.

The winners each received a total of $10 million, which was paid in the crypto-based coin. Cryptocurrency is admittedly not Scheffler's specialist subject, and when handed the award, he joked: "You know I don't know a whole lot about crypto but this is some good motivation to do some research."
