In anticipation of the intense heatwave forecast during the upcoming parliamentary elections scheduled for May 20th in Lucknow, the Lucknow Municipal Corporation (LMC) is proposing a novel token system to streamline the voting process and mitigate the discomfort faced by voters standing in long queues.

"In light of the anticipated scorching heat on election day, our primary objective is to make the voting process as comfortable as possible for our citizens," asserted Municipal Commissioner Inderjit Singh. "We will distribute tokens, establish seating arrangements, and ensure that voters do not have to endure prolonged exposure to the sun while waiting in queues. Additionally, we will enhance facilities such as seating, sunshades, wheelchairs, and nearby parking."

These challenges, coupled with long wait times, difficulty locating names on voter lists, and lack of comfortable waiting areas, often discourage voters from participating in the electoral process. Moreover, insufficient car parking facilities near polling stations further contribute to voter dissatisfaction.
