Partnering with personalised greeting cards company Moonpig ahead of Mother’s Day, the lexicographer has devised the term, characterising that “flower feeling,” something which has been scientifically proven as a universal experience.

Combining both the prefix ‘-eu,’ used to mean ‘good’ or ‘abundant,’ and ‘floria’—a nod to Flora, who in Roman mythology was the goddess of flowers—the word, which is on sale for £30, expresses the unique joy we feel when receiving flowers.

The new word comes after research discovered that receiving flowers can lift someone’s mood for up to four days.

The research also revealed that a fortunate 21 per cent of people receive flowers as a gift from friends and family every few months.
