Wichit Police and Phuket Highways Office hold talks to address Darasamut Underpass management

Officials from the Phuket Highways Office on Thursday (Mar 13) visited Wichit Police Station in a move to discuss the management of key infrastructure.

The discussion focused on the Darasamut Underpass and ongoing challenges in ensuring smooth traffic operations, an official report of the meeting said.

The meeting was attended by Pol Col Somsak Kahoun, the deputy provincial police commander, and Mr Somkit Kittisopit, the director of the Phuket Highways Office.

The discussions were aimed at strengthening cooperation between the two agencies.

As part of the visit, Pol Col Somsak and his team provided a tour of the Command and Control Operation Center (CCOC), a facility that oversees land traffic and monitors key areas through CCTV surveillance.

Pol Col Somsak expressed his appreciation for the meeting, emphasising the importance of interagency coordination in effectively addressing pressing issues.

“The discussion on the difficulties encountered in managing the Darasamut Underpass and other critical areas was a valuable step towards finding solutions,” he said.

He assured that the ongoing cooperation between Wichit Police and the Phuket Highways Office would undoubtedly enhance efficiency and ultimately benefit the public.

The meeting marked the beginning of a strengthened partnership, aiming to resolve outstanding traffic issues and improve overall road safety in Phuket, the report said.

During the visit, Mr Somkit presented a revered Luang Pu Thuad amulet from Wat Chang Hai, Pattani Province, to Pol Col Somsak as a token of goodwill and good fortune, the report added.
