Celtic midfielder Arne Engels was struck by a coin in a disgusting incident at Ibrox as Rangers fans marred their team's 3-0 defeat. Philippe Clement's team were cruising to a surprise win over the league leaders when Engels, on as a substitute in the second half, went to take a corner towards the end of the game. But there was a stoppage after TV cameras showed the midfielder collapsing to the floor after being struck in the face by an object thrown from the crowd.
Referee Don Robertson went over to check on the midfielder, who was ok to continue. Robertson then retrieved the coin from the ground and went over to the touchline to hand it over to a police officer, who placed it into an evidence bag. It's is set to be investigated by authorities and the SPFL and it's likely to land Rangers a sanction.
The grim scenes marred what was otherwise a happy occasion for the men in light blue who cut the gap at the top to 11 points.
