Marvel Rivals Costume Coin Exchange Rate Is Laughably Unfair

Marvel Rivals Costume Coin Exchange Rate Is Laughably Unfair

In the realm of games and their microtransactions, fairness and balance can be a delicate issue. Players often feel like they’re being taken advantage of when currency systems feel overly restrictive or unbalanced.

Unfortunately, Marvel Rivals has found itself in a similar situation. While it’s not as extreme a case as other games, it has certainly left players fuming. The issue in hand? The latest item: The Costume Coin and its laughable exchange rate. To put it simply, it’s so unfair that even Thanos might show up to restore balance.

What should have been a fun addition to the game has turned into a controversial one.

One wrong step has turned the tide in Marvel Rivals

Players were happy to see the new Pick-up Bundle. It was priced reasonably at $2.99 and includes Hyper Orange Venom skin, some Chrono tokens, and the aforementioned Cosmetic Coin. This is a solid bundle to purchase if you like Venom in all his orange glory and a coin that unlocks another skin for free.

But what if you already own all the skins or don’t want any skin from the current choices? The game lets you exchange the coin for Units, a premium currency used for buying skins and bundles.

Duality of Marvel Rivals Fans: “Dudes who were mad at She-Hulk twerking love the new Venom emote”

Seems good so far, right? But here’s the kicker: the exchange rate for the cosmetic coin is only 100 Units. No, this is not a typo. Sure, this is a free coin from the reasonably priced bundle, but giving only 100 units is brutal and unfair.

It’s the kind of exchange that feels more like a slap in the face than a reward (forcing players to pick a skin). Players have voiced their frustration on social media and gaming forums, wondering why they’re being treated this way.

Well, looks like we’re stuck in the TVA, where time works differently. Players' discontent (the “stones” of their frustration) won't have any effect on the modern gaming world.

Why the conversion rate is so unfair?

For those unfamiliar, 100 Units might sound like a decent chunk of in-game currency. However, in Marvel Rivals, 100 Units don't even scratch the surface of what you need to unlock a decent skin or bundle.

Marvel Rivals: Punisher 2099 Skin’s Hidden Detail Makes the 1400 Units Price Tag Worth It

Skins usually cost well over 1000 Units, and bundles, with all their discounts, can run up to 2200 Units. So, when you exchange the Coin for a mere 100 Units, it feels like a bad joke that nobody’s laughing at.

Sure, the coin is mostly meant for players to exchange it for another skin, and players are already getting Venom skin for the price of $2.99. But here’s another kicker: Not all the skins are present in the exchange pool. That means players are still stuck hoping the skin they want is in there.

Players aren’t asking for miracles, but a little balance would go a long way. The current system feels a little frustrating and exploitative. NetEase might want to rework this exchange rate in the future. Until then, players can hope that the skin they want is in the exchange pool.
