Nov 15, 2024 at 11:18 pm
Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Saturday attacked the BJP-led government at the Centre over various issues, including the Adani row and the alleged misuse of central agencies
BJP president J P Nadda on Sunday hit out at Congress leader Rahul Gandhi over his remarks on the Constitution and said the former does not understand the 'ABC' of the statute but wants to give quota to minorities.
"Rahul Gandhi does not understand the ABC of the Constitution. He wants to give quota to minorities but the Constitution does not allow it," Nadda said while addressing a public rally in Himachal Pradesh's Sirmaur district.
Gandhi had recently said the Constitution gives the right to equality to every citizen and there is no provision for giving preference to one religion over the other.
"The Constitution says everyone is equal. Where is the provision for giving preference to one religion over the other? The Constitution gives the right to equality to every citizen," Gandhi had said.
Nadda also accused the Congress of "dividing" the country on the basis of religion, caste and language.
"The Congress divided the country on the basis of religion, caste and language. They ruled the country for 55 years but did nothing for the welfare of the poor, farmers and youth," he said.
The BJP president said the Narendra Modi government has worked for the upliftment of the poor, farmers and youth in the last eight years.
"The Modi government has provided free ration to 80 crore poor people during the Covid pandemic. The government has also given Rs 2.25 lakh crore to farmers under the PM Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana," he said.
Nadda said the Modi government has also created employment opportunities for the youth through various schemes like Make in India and Startup India.
"The Modi government has created employment opportunities for the youth through various schemes like Make in India and Startup India. The government has also provided skill training to over 4 crore youth," he said.
The BJP president exuded confidence that the party will win the upcoming assembly elections in Himachal Pradesh.
"The BJP will win the upcoming assembly elections in Himachal Pradesh with a thumping majority. The people of the state are fed up with the Congress government and they want a change," he said.
