NewJeans‘ Hyein has been accused of disrespecting a previous CF client by a reporter from Money Today.
According to the reporter, Park Hyo Joo, Hyein was spotted showing off her Hyundai credit card as soon as the group’s contract with Shinhan Bank ended. Notably, NewJeans previously modelled for Shinhan Bank.
An article was published on January 3, 2025, titled “The reason why people are calling it disrespectful… NewJeans taking out their Hyundai cards as soon as their CF with Shinhan ends.”
The article explained that not only was the card a sign of disrespect to her previous CF client, but the Hyundai card was also one in collaboration with LGU+ telecom service. NewJeans currently advertises for SK Telecom. The article pointed out the double betrayal.
However, a fansite quickly stepped in to clarify the matter. Hyein had not been showing off her credit card, but she had been showing her fan the lucky clover sticker that the fan had given her. She also showed off the letter she received.
“Hyein unnie, the thing she was pointing to and showing off was the golden clover. It’s a sticker I put in the letter I gave her. Hyein unnie put the sticker on after she read the letter, and she was showing it to me. What has been spreading is a distorted version of this.”

This is not the first time idols have received flak for alleged disrespect to previous CF clients. Notably, BOYNEXTDOOR were also criticized for showing off their Apple products.
