The 62nd Mine Safety Week, organized under the guidance of the Mine Safety Directorate, Chaibasa, commenced today at UCIL’s Jaduguda Uranium Metal Mines.
Jaduguda: The 62nd Mine Safety Week, organized under the aegis of the Mine Safety Directorate, Chaibasa, kicked off on Monday at UCIL’s Jaduguda Uranium Metal Mines with the hoisting of the safety flag, marking the commencement of the week-long initiative, which will culminate on December 7.
A special function was held at the Jaduguda Mines Division, where the chief guest, Sapath Kumar, Mine Manager of Hindustan Copper Limited’s Surda mine, along with other guests, including Manoranjan Mahali, Agent of the Jaduguda Group of Mines, and M.V.V.S. Babu, the new mine manager, were felicitated with saplings.
Speaking on the occasion, M.V.V.S. Babu, the newly appointed mine manager of Jaduguda, highlighted that safety begins at home and stressed on the importance of following safety rules and using SOP equipment to drastically reduce accidents. He further stated that the aim of Safety Week is to instill safe work practices among the employees engaged in uranium production.
Sampath Kumar, the chief guest, along with other senior company officials, including Manoranjan Mahali, Rajesh Prasad, and security officer Ankit Shringi, shared their insights on safety and its importance in the mines, while a demonstration of the rescue team’s operations in case of an emergency was also showcased, highlighting the procedures for safely rescuing victims in the event of an accident, which was greatly appreciated by the employees.
The event culminated with the presentation of the Safe Worker Award to Vikram Majhi (UCIL) and Shyam Purti (contract worker), along with several other participants who were recognized for their commitment to safety. The program was supported by key contributors, including M.V.V.S. Babu, security officer Ankit Shringi, shift in-charge Abhitabh Mishra, and others, who played an instrumental role in the success of the event.
