The meeting coincided with Akiba's 65th birthday, prompting Marcos to gift him with a token and a birthday cake, according to the Presidential Communications Office.
“President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. welcomes Mr. Akiba Takeo, National Security Adviser of Japan, during a courtesy call on Thursday, December 19, 2024, at the Study Room, Malacañan Palace, Manila,” the PCO said.
“During the meeting, the President presented a token and a birthday cake to Akiba Takeo, who celebrates his 65th birthday today,” it added.
There are no details yet on what Marcos and Akiba discussed in their meeting.
