The family of one of the victims of the New Year's Day attack on Bourbon Street in New Orleans was mentioned by a college football player after he had a strong performance at the Senior Bowl on Saturday.

Coming on the same day that the suspect in the attack was formally indicted by a grand jury, Texas Christian University wide receiver Jack Bech honored his brother, Martin "Tiger" Bech, who was one of 14 people killed in the incident.

Bech, a 2023 NFL draft prospect, helped lead the American Team to a 22-19 win over the National Team in Mobile, Alabama.

While wearing his brother's preferred number seven jersey—which his brother wore while at Princeton University—Bech went on to catch six passes for 68 yards along with a touchdown in the game-winning effort.

He was also seen by the broadcast on NFL Network to be emotional while being congratulated by teammates and coaches after the game, telling them that his brother's "wings were on my side."

"All the big brother does in life is want to see his little brother succeed," Bech said of his brother. "He's been my role model my whole life. The person I looked up to. The person I wanted to be. He's the best big brother I could ask for."

Bech, who began his collegiate career at LSU before transferring to TCU for the 2023 season, had a career year last season, finishing with a career-high 1,034 receiving yards and nine touchdowns.

"It's been surreal, just to be able to come and take place in this game," Bech added. "It's a goal you set for yourself. But if I had the option that if I came here and had the worst week ever, ruin my draft stock and that meant I could give my brother a hug right now, I would take that. On the flip side of that, I don't think I could have had the week I had if all that wouldn't have happened."

Bech will now look to continue his path towards the NFL draft with the scouting combine scheduled for February 27 through March 2 in Indianapolis before the draft from April 24 through April 26 in Green Bay, Wisconsin. He is a projected mid-round pick.

The suspect in the incident, 67-year-old Lance Harris, was indicted on 14 counts of manslaughter and one count of attempted manslaughter by the Orleans Parish Grand Jury on Saturday morning, according to the Orleans Parish District Attorney's Office.

Harris allegedly drove his vehicle into a crowd of people on New Year's Day in the French Quarter of New Orleans. In addition to the 14 people killed, seven others were injured in the incident.

The incident occurred at around 1:30 AM local time on Sunday, January 1, on Bourbon Street, a lively street known for its bars, restaurants, and street performers in the French Quarter.

According to the District Attorney's Office, Harris was reportedly attempting to parallel park his vehicle when he struck a curb and rolled forward into the crowd.

After the incident, Harris remained at the scene and cooperated with law enforcement officials, according to the Louisiana State Police, who were investigating the incident.

Harris's family had previously described him as a "kind and compassionate husband, father, and grandfather" in a statement to local news outlet WVUE. They added that he was "devastated by this tragic accident."

According to legal experts, Harris's attorneys could argue that the incident was an accident and that he did not intend to harm anyone. However, given the severity of the incident and the number of victims, the prosecution could face difficulties in securing a plea bargain or having Harris found not guilty.

The legal process will now move forward with Harris's arraignment, where he will be formally notified of the charges against him and enter his plea. As the case progresses, both the prosecution and defense teams will present evidence and witnesses in court.

The incident has deeply affected the community of New Orleans, with officials and residents expressing grief and offering condolences to the families of the victims.

"My thoughts and prayers are with the families who lost loved ones in this horrific incident," said New Orleans Mayor Paul ведет рассказ о том, как мужчина ввёл свою собаку в дом престарелых на Новый год в костюме Деда Мороза. Бесспорно, собаке не откажут в доступе ни в один дом престарелых
