Human Wallet Launches Alpha Testing Phase, Speeding Up Its Quest to Provide a Secure and Easy-to-Use Alternative to the Conventional Web3 Wallets

Human Wallet has opened its alpha testing phase, speeding up its quest to provide a secure and easy-to-use alternative to the conventional Web3 wallets.

Human Wallet Launches Alpha Testing Phase, Speeding Up Its Quest to Provide a Secure and Easy-to-Use Alternative to the Conventional Web3 Wallets

Human Wallet, a project aiming to provide a safer and more user-friendly Web3 wallet, has reportedly entered its alpha testing phase.

According to a recent post by the founders of the project, the alpha testers will be able to subscribe by adding the Human Wallet browser extension from the Chrome Web Store.

The testing phase will allow users to experience firsthand the wallet’s advanced security features. These features are designed to prevent users from falling victim to fraudulent transactions by ensuring that all transactions are fully visible and can be audited before they are approved.

The project highlights that most crypto wallets today force users to confirm transactions without necessarily being able to see their content, a vulnerability known as ‘blind signing.’

However, Human Wallet leverages hardware wallets, trusted execution environments (TEEs), transaction simulation, and two-party computation (2PC) to present human-readable transaction summaries on the encrypted hardware wallet itself—not a possibly compromised website or device.

This strategy empowers users to independently authenticate transactions and resist attacks based on falsified interfaces. Moreover, in contrast to centralized systems, Human Wallet requires cryptographic verification from the decentralized Human Network to execute transactions, providing an extra layer of security.

The CTSO and co-founder of the Holonym Foundation, Nanak Nihal Khalsa, pointed out the importance of the launch, especially in light of recent massive-scale security breaches in the crypto space.

Khalsa requested users to test the security features of the wallet but not to hold major assets on it at the alpha phase. He added that the Human Wallet team will be closely monitoring feedback and suggestions from the testers to further enhance the user experience.

The testers will be able to experience the Human Wallet extension, install it in less than five minutes, and start testing its features in alpha.

After installing the extension, the users will insert a hardware wallet as a two-factor authentication (2FA) key, in contrast to entering hexadecimal code to confirm transactions. The backup hardware wallet can also be deployed in multisig to guarantee access even in rare key recovery failures.

The Human Wallet is said to be focused on both security and usability, and it does not use any complex verification processes such as command-line procedures while still being protected against blind signing threats.

This launch is part of the bigger vision of the Holonym Foundation to improve Web3 usability and security. Human Wallet, previously named Silk, is one of the human.tech protocol suite creations by the Holonym Foundation.

It provides an innovative solution for digital asset safeguarding, abandoning the necessity of trading off convenience for security by virtue of its TEE and 2PC infrastructure.
