Mar 27, 2025 at 01:11 am

If you're a creator, you want the ability to pursue your own visual expression without compromising quality. Something lightweight and compact that can be used anytime or anywhere to lift your vision forward-a camera that works with you.

Canon Reinvigorates Point-and-Shoot

Canon today announced two new additions to its portfolio of cutting-edge imaging devices: the Canon PowerShot V1 and the Canon EOS R50 V. Building upon the company’s commitment to empowering creators with versatile and high-quality tools, both cameras push boundaries and redefine possibilities in their respective domains.

Canon PowerShot V1: A Versatile Hybrid Camera for Creators

Canon PowerShot V1 is a versatile hybrid camera that combines the compactness of a point-and-shoot with the capabilities of a small cinema camera. It is designed for creators who want to capture their vision in cinematic detail, no matter where their journey takes them.

“At Canon, we are constantly listening to creators and striving to provide them with the best technology to bring their artistic visions to life,” said Yuichi Mashima, president, Canon U.S.A., Inc. “The Canon PowerShot V1 is a testament to that commitment. We are excited to introduce this innovative camera to the world and empower creators with the cinematic capabilities and compactness they have been searching for.”

Canon PowerShot V1 is equipped with a large 1-inch sensor and Canon’s signature color science, rendering vivid and nuanced footage. Internal recording is available in Canon Log 3 and RAW, offering maximum flexibility for color grading and post-production. Moreover, the camera supports a wide dynamic range of 15 stops (when setting ISO 100, -4 Ev).

Despite its small size, Canon PowerShot V1 is packed with professional-grade features, including a built-in ND filter, advanced manual controls and a new small cine lens that provides excellent sharpness and a minimum focusing distance of 3.9 inches. The camera also supports various external microphones and a small LED video light.

Canon EOS R50 V: A Compact Mirrorless Camera with Cinema EOS Technologies

Canon EOS R50 V builds upon the company’s renowned Cinema EOS line, introducing a compact mirrorless camera that is ideal for creators of all levels. The camera is designed to provide excellent video quality and versatility in a lightweight and easily portable package.

“We are excited to continue expanding our EOS R series with the Canon EOS R50 V,” said Madhavi Palle, vice president, optical products, video and cctv, Canon U.S.A., Inc. “This camera combines the best of Canon’s photo and video technologies, offering creators an unmatched level of flexibility and control. We believe that EOS R50 V will empower creators to take their content to new heights.”

Canon EOS R50 V is capable of recording internal video in 6K (3:2 aspect ratio) and 4K (16:9 aspect ratio) up to 30 frames per second, rendering footage with shallow depth of field and beautiful bokeh. The camera also supports Canon Log 3 and RAW internal recording, offering broad latitude for color grading and post-production.

Canon EOS R50 V is equipped with a wide dynamic range of 14 stops (when setting ISO 100, -3 Ev), rendering excellent detail in both the highlights and shadows. The camera also features Canon’s renowned color science, which is used in Canon’s high-end cinema cameras.
