Bengals-Ravens Was OUT OF CONTROL This Year

Nov 08, 2024 at 10:05 am

The Bengals have gone up 31-21 and 21-7 in two games against the Ravens this season. Both ended in shootout losses.

Bengals-Ravens Was OUT OF CONTROL This Year

The Cincinnati Bengals had a chance to sweep the Baltimore Ravens in 2024, but they ultimately fell short in both games. Despite putting up impressive offensive numbers, including 31 and 21 points in each game, the Bengals couldn’t pull out the wins.

In the first game, which ended in a 41-38 overtime loss for the Bengals, both teams combined for 79 points in what was arguably the NFL’s best game of the season.

The second game, which the Ravens won 35-34, was also a high-scoring affair. The Bengals took an early 14-7 lead in the second half, but a fumble by Chase Brown led to a Ravens touchdown and a 21-14 deficit for Cincinnati.

The Bengals eventually tied the game at 21-21, but the Ravens went on another scoring drive to take a 28-21 lead with less than six minutes remaining in the fourth quarter.

Burrow led the Bengals on a 70-yard touchdown drive to tie the game again, but the Ravens ultimately scored the go-ahead touchdown with 1:49 left on the clock.

Despite having no timeouts left, Burrow was able to lead the Bengals down the field again, eventually scoring a touchdown with 38 seconds remaining. Instead of kicking the extra point to tie the game and send it to overtime, Bengals head coach Zac Taylor opted to go for the 2-point conversion and the win.

However, Burrow’s pass to Tanner Hudson fell incomplete, and the Ravens held on to secure the victory.

The Bengals’ offense was led by Burrow, who threw for 428 yards and four touchdowns, and Chase, who had 264 yards and three touchdowns on 17 targets.

The Ravens, meanwhile, were led by Jackson, who threw for 290 yards and four touchdowns with zero interceptions. He now leads the NFL in passing touchdowns with 24.

Despite the Bengals’ impressive offensive performance, it wasn’t enough to overcome the Ravens, who had a +18.0 expected points added on dropbacks after halftime, the second-highest mark by a QB this season.
