Anaheim Ducks' Ryan Strome Fined $5,000 for Cross-Checking

NEW YORK, NY - The National Hockey League (NHL) has imposed a $5,000 fine on Anaheim Ducks forward Ryan Strome for cross-checking Seattle Kraken forward Tye Kartye during Thursday's game.

The incident occurred with just over five minutes remaining in the third period of the Kraken's 4-2 victory. As Kartye attempted to retrieve the puck along the boards, Strome delivered a cross-check to Kartye's chest, sending him crashing into the boards.

The NHL's Department of Player Safety reviewed the incident and determined that Strome's cross-check was excessive and violated Rule 48 of the NHL rulebook, which prohibits players from "cross-checking an opponent in any manner that is deemed to be unacceptable or dangerous."

Strome was assessed a minor penalty for cross-checking during the game. The fine of $5,000 will go to the NHL Players' Emergency Assistance Fund, which provides financial assistance to players facing hardship due to injury, illness, or other unforeseen circumstances.

The fine serves as a reminder to players that cross-checking will not be tolerated by the league. The NHL is committed to ensuring player safety and protecting players from unnecessary injuries.
