White-Hat Hacker Exploits Super Sushi Samurai Crypto Game For $4.6M - Crypto Daily

Super Sushi Samurai Game Exploited: What Happened?

A white-hat hacker targeted the Super Sushi Samurai (SSS) crypto game on the Blast network, leading to a $4.6 million exploit. This incident highlights ongoing security challenges within the Blast ecosystem.

SSS Game Hacked: What Went Wrong?

The SSS project, a new gaming token on the layer-2 network Blast, launched on March 17. However, the token contract contained a critical vulnerability that allowed an "infinite mint" attack. This flaw allowed balances to be duplicated during transfers between identical addresses, resulting in a staggering $4.6 million loss.

White-Hat Intervention: A Silver Lining?

Fortunately, the attack appears to have been orchestrated by a white-hat hacker with the intention of protecting at-risk funds. The hacker promptly notified the SSS team and proposed collaboration to reimburse affected users.

Challenges for Blast: A Pattern of Exploits?

The SSS exploit is not an isolated incident within the Blast ecosystem. Recently, the Blast-based gambling project RiskOnBlast allegedly rug-pulled investors, disappearing with $1.29 million raised in a token presale.

Blast's Security Concerns: A Cause for Worry?

Despite generating $2.3 billion in deposits upon its mainnet launch, Blast has encountered setbacks due to security vulnerabilities and exploitation cases. Critics have raised concerns over the project's infrastructure, particularly its use of a multisig wallet as a "bridge."

Investment Disclaimer: Proceed with Caution

Investors should exercise caution when investing in Blast-based projects, given the recent security concerns. Thorough due diligence and research are crucial to mitigate risks and protect against potential losses.
