A New Twist in the LIBRA Crypto Scandal as Argentine Lawyer Gregorio Dalbon Requests an Interpol Red Notice
Mar 13, 2025 at 03:46 pm
The LIBRA crypto scandal saw a new twist this week, with Argentine lawyer Gregorio Dalbon requesting an Interpol Red Notice for the token’s creator, Haydone Davis.
The case of LIBRA, the crypto token that collapsed earlier this year, saw a new development this week as Argentine lawyer Gregorio Dalbon requested an Interpol Red Notice for the token’s creator, Haydone Davis.
Attorney Dalbon issued the petition on Wednesday, to the court, to formally request an Interpol Red Notice for the arrest and extradition of Davis from the U.S.
As the investigation into the case continues, prosecutors identified Davis, whose Delaware-registered company Kelsier Ventures created LIBRA in February, as a central figure in the token’s collapse, which left many investors in ruins.
With the investigation intensifying, Attorney Dalbon asked the court to order an Interpol Red Notice that could lead to Davis’ arrest and extradition from the U.S., where he currently resides.
The lawyer argued that Davis poses a significant flight risk due to his financial resources and that his continued freedom could hinder the ongoing investigation into the collapse of LIBRA.
Notably, the Argentine lawyer maintained that Davis is a central figure in the case. According to Dalbon, Davis created and promoted LIBRA to deceive and lure unsuspecting victims into purchasing the token.
Given his involvement in the case, Dalbon highlighted that Davis is pivotal to the ongoing investigation. As such, he wants an Interpol Red Notice against Davis to arrest and extradite him.
Meanwhile, Davis’s legal team has maintained his innocence, arguing that his only goal was to ensure that LIBRA succeeds.
For context, an Interpol Red Notice is usually sent to law enforcement agencies across 195 member countries to announce the wanted status of an individual who is allegedly guilty of a serious crime like fraud or murder.
The notice does not obligate member countries to detain or extradite individuals but they usually do so based on their respective laws.
In September 2022, Interpol issued a red notice for Terra founder Do Kwon following the collapse of the Terra ecosystem. He was arrested in Montenegro in March 2023 and extradited to the United States.
The request for Davis’ arrest and extradition comes a week after lead prosecutor Eduardo Taiano asked the court to freeze over $100 million in digital assets linked to the case.
The collapse of LIBRA has continued to spur multiple controversies, including the indictment of Argentina’s President Javier Milei following his promotion of the token.
