Rory McIlroy and Scottie Scheffler Take on Brooks Koepka and Bryson DeChambeau in PGA Tour vs LIV Golf Style Showdown
Dec 12, 2024 at 09:02 am
Four of the biggest names in golf from the two rivaling tours battle it out in a multiformat 18 hole match at Shadow Creek in Las Vegas.
Four of the biggest names in golf will face off in a multiformat 18-hole match at Shadow Creek in Las Vegas on December 17, 2024, in the first edition of "Showdown."
The PGA Tour’s Rory McIlroy and Scottie Scheffler will take on LIV’s Bryson DeChambeau and Brooks Koepka in the made-for-TV event.
The winning team will divvy up a multimillion-dollar pool that will be paid out in cryptocurrency (specifically CRO Cronos, the native token of Crypto.com).
Four years ago, Brooks Koepka and Bryson DeChambeau couldn't stand each other. The two were visibly annoyed by one another and neither shied away from showing it in public. But now the two are no longer a part of the PGA Tour, having left for the Saudi-backed LIV tour, and are set to team up to take on Scottie Scheffler and Rory McIlroy.
The golf world has been split in two over the last couple of years, with all of the best players only coming together for the four major tournaments. There have been talks between PGA Tour Enterprises and the Public Investment Fund (PIF) about merging the tours, but nothing has been set in stone. It’s been hard on golf fans, but it also has created a ‘rivalry’ between the players and the two tours, so it’s only natural that eventually a match between the two entities would come to fruition. And in the dead of December, fans could use some golf action between actual professional golfers (sorry Patrick Mahomes and the other celebrities who participated in The Match). So on a random Tuesday, when there isn't much else going on, tune in to four of the biggest names in the sport battling it out for their tours, and some crypto currency at one of the prettiest courses in America. Here is everything you need to know.
