Royal Challengers Bangalore Crash to Second Consecutive Defeat in IPL 2024, Succumb to Lucknow Super Giants

Royal Challengers Bangalore's (RCB) disappointing start to the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 campaign continued on Sunday, April 2, as they fell to a 28-run defeat against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.

Chasing a challenging target of 182 runs, RCB's innings faltered from the outset. Star batsman Virat Kohli was dismissed for a modest 22, followed by a string of low scores from Glenn Maxwell (0), Faf du Plessis (19), and Cameron Green (9).

Rajat Patidar and Mahipal Lomror attempted to salvage the innings with knocks of 29 and 33, respectively, but their efforts proved futile against the relentless bowling of LSG. By the 19.4th over, RCB were bundled out for a mere 153 runs, falling well short of the required target.

Mayank Yadav emerged as the bowling hero for LSG, capturing three crucial wickets. Naveen-ul-Haq and Yash Thakur also chipped in with two wickets each, while Marcus Stoinis claimed one.

Earlier in the match, LSG had set a formidable total of 181 for 5 wickets in their allotted 20 overs. Quinton de Kock was the star of the show, smashing an impressive 81 runs. Vice-captain Nicholas Pooran provided a late flourish with a quick-fire knock to accelerate the scoring rate in the death overs.

Glenn Maxwell was the standout performer for RCB with the ball, claiming two key wickets. However, the rest of the bowling attack struggled to contain LSG's batsmen.

LSG's victory marked their second consecutive win in the tournament, while RCB suffered their second straight loss. The defeat leaves RCB searching for answers as they aim to turn around their fortunes in the highly competitive IPL.
