OKX Appoints Linda Lacewell as New Chief Legal Officer (CLO), Expanding Its Global Reach

OKX, the renowned cryptocurrency exchange, has made a significant stride in its global expansion strategy by appointing legal expert Linda Lacewell as its new Chief Legal Officer (CLO).

Lacewell, recognized for her expertise in regulatory compliance, will be spearheading OKX's efforts to navigate the ever-evolving legal landscape of the crypto industry.

Her appointment follows the departure of Mauricio Beugelmans, who held the position for two years and played a pivotal role in strengthening OKX's legal framework, particularly in Europe and the UAE.

Lacewell's addition to the OKX board in 2024 further underscores her involvement with the exchange.

Prior to joining OKX, Lacewell served as the Superintendent of the New York Department of Financial Services (NYDFS), where she spearheaded the overhaul of the state's crypto licensing procedures.

During her tenure at NYDFS, Lacewell also led initiatives to combat financial crime and enhance cybersecurity, experience that will be invaluable as OKX aims to establish a robust presence in some of the world's most highly regulated markets.

This strategic move by OKX is part of its broader strategy to expand its footprint and secure the necessary licenses for operation in diverse financial hubs.

Having already secured an operating license in Dubai in 2022, OKX introduced SGD deposit and withdrawal options in Singapore by late 2024, providing local banking services.

Early 2025 saw another milestone with the acquisition of a MiCA license, positioning OKX as one of the first exchanges to legally operate across Europe.

This aligns with the exchange's vision to provide a seamless and accessible platform for users in diverse global markets, catering to a wide range of cryptocurrency products and services.
