NMC Commissioner Dr. Shinde inspects Shoes Thackeray Hospital in Sector 15, Nurol

The municipal commissioner of Navi Mumbai, Dr. Kailas Shinde, visited Maasaheb Minatai Thackeray Hospital in Sector 15, Nerul, on Wednesday to inspect healthcare services and oversee efforts to enhance the quality of medical care provided by the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC).

Accompanied by senior health officials, Dr. Shinde reviewed the hospital's facilities and issued several directives to improve patient services and streamline healthcare delivery.

During the visit, the commissioner observed a large number of citizens waiting for case paper registration. He instructed hospital authorities to expand seating arrangements and implement an efficient token system to manage patient flow.

Dr. Shinde also directed the installation of public restrooms within the premises for visitors' convenience.

Moreover, he emphasized the need for informative boards outside the hospital to raise awareness about available medical services and health precautions.

The commissioner inspected the cancer screening unit and engaged with doctors to understand the services provided.

Dr. Shinde highlighted the importance of extensive publicity campaigns to ensure greater outreach, especially among women who could benefit from early detection facilities.

He recommended that all hospital signage be primarily in Marathi and suggested using digital screens, banners, and audio-visual materials to enhance public awareness of cancer symptoms and treatment options.

While reviewing the casualty department, Dr. Shinde instructed authorities to install a portable sonography machine and expedite the completion of the modular operation theatre.

He also called for better information dissemination outside the Chemotherapy Day Care Center and Cancer Ward and directed that chemotherapy-related training for doctors and nurses be conducted in collaboration with the Tata Cancer Center.

Dr. Shinde further examined the microbiology laboratory and recommended sharing details of its testing capabilities with hospitals in Navi Mumbai and neighboring areas to facilitate advanced medical diagnostics.

He suggested exploring the feasibility of establishing a municipal facility for hormonal studies and IVF technology, citing the increasing cases of infertility due to hormonal imbalances.

Additionally, Dr. Shinde directed authorities to fast-track the launch of an AYUSH outpatient department (OPD) to expand alternative healthcare services.

"The municipal corporation is committed to providing high-quality healthcare services to citizens. We will continue efforts to improve medical facilities and provide better services to all," Dr. Shinde affirmed.
