Melania Trump Earned Over $237,000 for a Single Speaking Engagement, New Financial Disclosures Reveal
Aug 16, 2024 at 08:40 pm
The documents have been released by the Federal Election Commission and are the first public insight into the former president's earnings this year.
The latest financial disclosure report filed by Donald Trump reveals the income earned by his wife, Melania Trump, from speaking engagements and her non-fungible token (NFT) licensing agreement.
The documents, obtained by Newsweek, have been released by the Federal Election Commission and offer the first public glimpse into the former president's earnings this year.
The disclosure spans over 250 pages and details all of Donald Trump's incomes, investments, debts and business interests. There is also a section dedicated to 'Spouse's Employment Assets & Income and Retirement Accounts' on page six of part one of the documents, embedded below.
The documents reveal that Melania Trump earned over $237,000 for a speaking engagement in April 2024 to the Log Cabin Republicans in Palm Beach, Florida.
The group describes itself as an organization for "LGBT conservatives and our straight allies."
Melania Trump also hosted a second fundraiser for the Log Cabin Republicans at Trump Tower in July 2024. According to Richard Grenell, Trump's former acting director of national intelligence, the July event raised $1.4 million. However, anything earned by Melania Trump at this event is not listed on the financial disclosures.
The documents also list Melanie Trump as earning $330,607 for a licensing agreement from Designers Manager for the sale of NFTs.
The former first lady launched her NFT site after leaving the White House, with a collection of digital renderings including likenesses of her face and a collection celebrating the Apollo 11 moon landing.
The documents also reveal that a company, named MKT World LLC, has been set up to accommodate speaking engagements and the sale of Melania Trump's NFTs.
According to the financial disclosure documents, Melania Trump also has a property portfolio of her own.
Her residential real estate ownings in New York are valued between $500,001 and $1,000,000.
She also receives between $15,001 and $50,000 in rent from residential real estate owned in Ljubljana, Slovenia.
Newsweek has contacted the office of Melania Trump for comment.
Melania Trump's earnings pale in comparison to the Mar-A-Lago club, which was revealed in the documents to have provided Donald Trump with almost $57 million in income.
Meanwhile, the Trump National Golf Club in Lamington, New Jersey, drew in "golf related revenue" of over $37 million.
The disclosure also revealed Donald Trump owes more than $100 million in liabilities. These are regarding his legal troubles in New York.
Both the judgments against Donald Trump in the two civil lawsuits brought against him by E. Jean Carroll are listed in the disclosure.
For the first, which found Donald Trump liable for defaming and abusing the columnist, up to $5 million in liabilities is listed.
For the second civil lawsuit, where a jury found Trump liable for harming the writer's professional reputation, $50 million is listed in liabilities.
