National Postage Stamp and Coin Show Draws Large Crowds

Mississauga, Ontario - The National Postage Stamp and Coin Show, held at the Hilton Mississauga on April 6-7, attracted a significant turnout, with collectors eager to browse and acquire rare and valuable pieces. The event, organized by Canadian Coin News and Canadian Stamp News, featured over 50 dealers from across Canada.

The ballroom, spanning an impressive 9,100 square feet, was filled with collectors throughout the day, particularly on opening day. The live numismatic auction, led by Colonial Acres, generated spirited bidding, with numerous lots exceeding pre-sale estimates. The auction results are available in detail on page 30 of the publication.

Additionally, approximately 25 children participated in Sunday's Youth Auction and Workshop, which was sponsored by the Royal Canadian Numismatic Association and the show organizers. The story is featured on page 6.

Brenda Hoyles of C. Frank Hoyles expressed satisfaction with the attendance and sales. She noted a marked increase in purchases compared to the previous year, stating, "Both the coin people and the stamp people were pleased with the attendance and the sales. Beautiful! The people who were coming were buying."

Mike Wilson of Mike's Coins, based in New Brunswick, also shared his contentment, commenting, "I have no complaints whatsoever. Everyone thought it was very well attended. It was orderly, customers flowed in seamlessly, and although it got quite warm at one point due to the large number of attendees, that's hardly a complaint!" Wilson emphasized the impressive turnout by stating, "At how many coin shows do you see over 100 people waiting in line for the doors to open at ten?"
