Manchester City Forges Partnership with Quidd to Revolutionize Football Collectibles

Manchester City Football Club, a renowned powerhouse in the English Premier League, has embarked on a groundbreaking multi-year partnership with Quidd, a subsidiary of Animoca Brands. This collaboration aims to usher in a new era of digital collectibles and transformative fan experiences.

Digital Collectibles: A Gateway to the Digital Age

Quidd, known for its expertise in digital collectibles, will create and launch a series of exclusive "special edition" collectibles. These digital cards will not only enhance the traditional pastime of football card collecting but also unlock real-world experiences, bridging the gap between the digital and physical realms.

Unleashing the Power of Digital Experiences

"We are thrilled to embark on this partnership with Quidd, transforming the cherished tradition of football collectibles and introducing our fans to a new digital age," remarked Tom Boyle, Vice-President, Global Partnerships Marketing and Operations at City Football Group. "This collaboration will enable us to connect with our global fan base on a deeper level, creating unforgettable digital experiences and engaging games."

Inaugural Collection: Bespoke Digital Player Cards

The partnership will commence with a series of 200 bespoke digital player cards, set to launch on May 2. The first 10,000 "Cityzens" (Manchester City fans) to purchase card packs will be rewarded with two exclusive "For the Fans" packs.

Unlocking Real-World Rewards

Cityzens who collect digital rewards through Quidd packs will have access to exclusive real-world opportunities. These perks include official Manchester City merchandise, hospitality tickets, and coveted "money-can't-buy" experiences such as witnessing a first-team training session at the City Football Academy.

Manchester City's Digital Legacy

This partnership is a testament to Manchester City's embrace of digital innovation. In recent months, the club has ventured into the non-fungible token (NFT) space, launching its "Unseen City Shirts" NFT collection on the OKX blockchain. A limited number of these NFTs are connected to physical, limited-edition jerseys adorned with hand-painted artwork.

Beyond the Pitch: Cryptocurrency in Football

Manchester City's forward-thinking approach extends beyond digital collectibles. The club has forged a partnership with Sony to construct a virtual replica of Etihad Stadium, the iconic home ground of Manchester City, in the metaverse, making it the first officially-licensed football stadium in the virtual world.

While Manchester City embraces the digital realm, other football clubs are exploring the potential of cryptocurrency for their long-term sustainability. The Winklevoss twins have recently invested in Bitcoin podcaster Peter McCormack's Real Bedford Football Club, demonstrating their confidence in Bitcoin's potential and the club's aspirations to ascend to the Premier League.
