Japan Urged to Explore Bitcoin Reserve and DOGE Potential

Dec 14, 2024 at 11:15 pm

This proposal comes as global interest in Bitcoin reserves gains momentum, particularly following Donald Trump's election victory in the United States.

Japan Urged to Explore Bitcoin Reserve and DOGE Potential

Lawmaker Satoshi Yamada has submitted a formal question to the Japanese government regarding the establishment of a Strategic Bitcoin Reserve (SBR).

This proposal follows Donald Trump’s campaign pledge to create a national Bitcoin reserve, which has sparked interest in the concept worldwide.

Japan is now being urged to examine the feasibility of establishing an SBR and to investigate the potential of a Department of Government Efficiency (D.O.G.E).

Japanese Lawmaker Calls for Analysis of Global Bitcoin Reserves Initiatives

Japanese lawmaker Satoshi Yamada submitted a formal question to the Japanese government on December 11, highlighting the need to analyze global initiatives centered on Bitcoin reserves.

He emphasized how adopting this initiative could strengthen Japan’s financial markets and economy.

Yamada also raised the possibility of converting part of Japan’s foreign exchange reserves into cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin and inquired about the government’s stance on the matter.

“I believe that consideration should be given to this matter, and I would like to hear the government’s views. Should Japan also introduce a system to convert part of its foreign exchange reserves into crypto assets such as Bitcoin?,” the lawmaker questioned.

As Donald Trump promised to establish a national Bitcoin reserve during his campaign, efforts to create Bitcoin reserves have gained momentum on a global scale over the past month.

Following his election, several US states, including Pennsylvania and Texas, have introduced legislation to build strategic Bitcoin reserves.

According to Dennis Porter, CEO of the Satoshi Action Fund, at least ten states are actively drafting similar bills and expects more to follow soon.

“President Trump better have the Executive Order ready on day 1 for a ‘Strategic Bitcoin Reserve’. Otherwise, the states are ready to win the race. Pennsylvania and Texas are leading the way. At least 10 states in total will introduce SBR bills. Probably many more,” Porter stated.

Japanese Lawmaker Raises Awareness of US Department of Government Efficiency (D.O.G.E)

In addition to Bitcoin reserves, Yamada expressed interest in the newly established US Department of Government Efficiency (D.O.G.E).

“I think this is a policy that Japan should take note of,” he stated.

This department, created under Trump’s “Save America Movement,” aims to streamline federal functions, cut government spending, and boost operational efficiency. Tech billionaire Elon Musk and biotech innovator Vivek Ramaswamy have been appointed to lead D.O.G.E.

Since their appointment, both leaders have outlined strategies to transform government operations, focusing on reducing bureaucracy and enhancing economic freedom. Yamada suggested that Japan could draw inspiration from this initiative as it evaluates policies to foster economic growth and improve government efficiency.
