Hambantota, Sri Lanka - In a bid to foster economic cooperation and explore potential business ventures, the French Ambassador to Sri Lanka, Jean-Francois Pactet, paid a visit to the Hambantota International Port (HIP) on April 22, 2024.
During the tour, HIP's Chief Operating Officer (COO), Tissa Wickremasinghe, provided the Ambassador and his delegation with an in-depth overview of the port's operations and strategic growth plans. Mr. Wickremasinghe outlined the port's core business areas, emphasizing its expansion in the RORO/LPG, oil and gas sectors, and the recent introduction of container operations.
He highlighted the significant growth witnessed by the port, particularly in bulk cargo handling, and expressed anticipation for further volume increases by the end of the year. The Ambassador was also briefed on the port's commitment to corporate social responsibility (CSR), environmental, social, and governance (ESG) practices, and its vision for the future.
