Two Children Tragically Lose Their Lives in Essex Car Crash as Police Arrest Two Individuals

Two children have sadly died following a car crash in Essex, with police confirming the arrest of two individuals.

Essex Police disclosed that a man and a woman are being held on suspicion of causing death by careless driving and failing to stop after the collision.

The devastating event occurred on Walthams Place in Pitsea, Essex, on Saturday evening just past 6pm. In the wake of the fatal accident, authorities are urging anyone with information to come forward.

Temporary Assistant Chief Constable Stuart Hooper expressed his deepest sympathies to the loved ones of the young victims, who are receiving support from specialist officers during this "unimaginably difficult" period.

The official statement from Essex Police reads: "Two people have been arrested after two children died following a collision in Pitsea.

"We received a call at 6.25pm on Saturday 1 February reporting a girl and a boy had been involved in a collision with a car in Walthams Place. The car failed to stop at the scene.

"Emergency services attended but, despite their best efforts, both children were pronounced dead. A man and a woman have since been arrested on suspicion of causing death by careless driving and failing to stop at the scene of a collision."
