A new memecoin, named after Barron Trump, briefly surged to a $460 million market cap based on speculative rumors that it was created by the youngest Trump family member.
A memecoin named after Barron Trump briefly enjoyed a $460 million market cap amid unsubstantiated rumors that it was created by the youngest member of the Trump family.
The token’s value quickly plummeted when no evidence emerged to support the claim.
The frenzy began when an X account, elonsfeed99, shared a link to a Pump.fun launchpad profile tied to the memecoin. The account alleged that the profile belonged to Barron Trump, citing vague blockchain connections.
“Its (sic) clearly made by one of their friends, with deep pockets. I believe that friend can only be the elusive Barron Trump,” the post read.
Despite the lack of concrete evidence, the rumor gained traction. Within hours, the token achieved its peak market cap of $460 million as speculation spread widely across social media.
The profile that launched the Barron memecoin had previously introduced several other unauthorized tokens, including those claiming links to Ronaldo, Johnnie Walker, and Kai Trump.
Further fueling intrigue, Conor Grogan from Coinbase highlighted a possible connection to the Trump family. He pointed out that a KuCoin deposit address associated with the Barron token also appeared in transactions involving the creator of the MELANIA token.
“At the very least, someone connected to the MELANIA token’s creator purchased a large amount of the Barron memecoin,” Grogan observed.
The Barron token’s launch comes amid recent memecoin releases by Donald and Melania Trump. Donald Trump’s token reached a $13.5 billion market cap before losing half its value after Melania Trump’s token launch. The Barron memecoin, however, failed to sustain its initial hype and quickly crashed once it became clear that the rumors were unfounded.
