Bashir Rabiu works as an assistant to the animal traders as well as their buyers at the Abuja livestock market
An assistant to animal traders and their buyers at the Abuja livestock market, located in Die-Dei area of the FCT, Bashir Rabiu, has devoted his extra time to cater for kid goats that find themselves through some circumstance in the business market.
Such goat new-borns, he told Abuja Metro during a visit on Christmas Eve, in the market were mostly born while their mothers were being transported to the market, or after been brought there.
That circumstance would not spare their mothers from being sold out or slaughtered by their owners, Rabiu added.
The young man who was seen moving toward some goats at the market to milk them, was approached by our reporter, on what he intended to do with the product.
Rabiu disclosed that he used the milk to feed such babies in order to save their lives. “Each baby goat would consume about a litre of milk a day and it’s my responsibility to take care of those under my care for about two months, when they would be weaned, and let to feed on their own, he stated.
“I am not after what the animal owners are giving me, rather to rescue their lives, he added.
