RLUSD, Ripple's Recently Launched Stablecoin, Flips PayPal and EURC in 24-Hour Trading Volume

Fresh off its mid-December 2024 launch, Ripple’s recently unveiled stablecoin, RLUSD, has already achieved a significant milestone. According to data shared on X by the Paul Barron Network (@paulbarrontv), RLUSD has clocked a daily trading volume of $34.7 million, placing it ahead of both PayPal USD (PYUSD) and EURC, which recorded $19.7 million and $12.4 million, respectively.

This surge in volume highlights the strong reception RLUSD has garnered within the decentralized finance (DeFi) and banking sectors. As part of Ripple’s broader strategy, RLUSD is designed to act as a Trojan Horse, enabling Ripple to bridge traditional finance with decentralized solutions, according to Adam Cochran, Managing Partner at Cinneamhain Ventures.

Operating seamlessly on the XRP Ledger, the stablecoin offers users fast and low-cost transactions. It is also available on the Ethereum network, allowing a broad range of users to enjoy its benefits and introducing them to the XRP ecosystem.

As Ripple continues to strengthen its presence in the financial industry, RLUSD plays a vital role. The stablecoin is a critical component of Ripple’s expansion, serving as a gateway for financial institutions and retail users seeking efficient cross-border payment solutions.

The rapid adoption of RLUSD has not gone unnoticed by the crypto community and industry experts. Popular crypto influencer Ben “BitBoy” Armstrong recently highlighted the importance of RLUSD in the Ripple ecosystem, describing stablecoins as the backbone of the crypto industry.

In a surprising twist, RLUSD has now outperformed not only PYUSD but also fully decentralized stablecoins like DAI and GUSD in daily volume. At press time, RLUSD had far surpassed PYUSD and EURC, ranking 4th by trading volume with a 24-hour volume of $417.8 million, behind FDUSD, USDC, and USDT.

As RLUSD grows rapidly, it is bringing in many new investors to the XRP ecosystem, which presents a big opportunity for XRP as both assets are complementary. According to many in the community, RLUSD is coming for USDT’s top position, and if it keeps growing at this rate, it might dominate the stablecoin market sooner than many expect.
