NFT marketplace OpenSea (NASDAQ:HOOD) on Thursday launched OS2, a major overhaul of its platform that expands beyond NFTs into token trading.Announcing the launch on Twitter, OpenSea CEO Devin Finzer said the new platform expands OpenSea from an NFT marketplace to a much broader platform for trading all types of digital assets. “Tokens and NFTs belong together in a single, powerful, delightful experience,” he added.OpenSea describes OS2 as a ground-up rebuild, bringing enhanced functionality, faster performance, and a redesigned user experience. Some of the most significant updates include:NFT and token trading in one platform: Users can now trade ERC-20 tokens alongside NFTs with access to liquidity from third-party aggregators.Cross-chain purchasing: Buyers can purchase NFTs and tokens across multiple blockchains without manually bridging or swapping assets.New blockchain support: Flow (FLOW), ApeChain (APE), Berachain (BERA) and Soneium (SUI) are now available and more to come.The platform launches with 0.5% fees for NFTs and zero fees for token trades. Marketplace aggregation compiles listings from multiple marketplaces to ensure users access the best prices. Live analytics and rarity tools provide real-time updates, in-depth statistics, and color-coded rarity indicators.A newly introduced XP rewards program allows users to earn XP through platform engagement, with rewards tied to usage. OS2 also reintroduces delisted collections and locked items, a move Finzer describes as a shift away from restrictive policies. “We’re changing policies that didn't make sense for Web3,” he noted in a follow-up tweet.Alongside OS2, the OpenSea Foundation has announced $SEA, a token aimed at strengthening engagement within the NFT and broader crypto ecosystem.
