Trump announced his own meme coin, $TRUMP, two days ago. The cryptocurrency, which is built on the Solana network, saw a surge of about 4,200% in just two hours.

Melania announced her own new meme coin, $MELANIA, yesterday, just hours before Donald’s official inauguration ceremony.

“The Official Melania Meme is live! You can buy $MELANIA now,” the upcoming first lady posted on X.

Meme coins are a type of cryptocurrency that is derived from an internet meme or has some other humorous characteristic.

When Trump announced his new meme coin, the coin’s value surged to about $8 billion. The coin went up by over 300% in the first three minutes after the announcement, with trading volumes reaching up to $1 billion, according to the Geothermal Data Repository (GDR).

According to the official cryptocurrency website, there are currently about 200 million $TRUMP available, and it is expected to reach 1 billion in three years.

Both Trump and Melania’s coins are currently trending on Solana, a blockchain platform which uses a proof-of-stake mechanism to provide smart contract functionality.
