Meme coins are a type of cryptocurrency that is derived from an internet meme or has some other humorous characteristic.
When Trump announced his new meme coin, the coin’s value surged to about $8 billion. The coin went up by over 300% in the first three minutes after the announcement, with trading volumes reaching up to $1 billion, according to the Geothermal Data Repository (GDR).
