A half-ounce Gold American Eagle coin was found at the bottom of a Salvation Army Red Kettle in Phoenix this holiday season, netting the organization a hefty donation after it was sold.

The Salvation Army Ray & Joan Kroc Center Phoenix, located near 14th Street and Broadway Road, reported that the coin was found in one of its signature Red Kettles. While the face value of the coin is $25, staff had it appraised and sold it for a total of $1,310.

The donor, who remained anonymous, also left a heartwarming message in the kettle, which read, “May this gold help the people in need during the Christmas season. Bless you all.”
