Aave Labs has launched the Horizon initiative to develop products targeting institutional investors, aiming to bridge decentralized finance (DeFi) and traditional financial systems.

The initiative focuses on tokenized real-world assets (RWAs), such as securities, bonds, and real estate, to integrate institutional capital into DeFi, enhancing the liquidity and accessibility of assets on blockchain platforms.

Horizon’s emphasis on RWAs marks a strategic shift from Aave’s earlier institutional offering, Aave Arc, which debuted last year with a broader compliance-focused approach.

These tools could allow institutions to engage in DeFi activities like earning interest on assets or borrowing against them, mirroring Aave’s existing protocols while catering to institutional requirements.
