A coin expert has advised Brits to inspect their loose change for a penny that could potentially be worth over £2,000.

The coin expert, known as the Coin Collecting Wizard, has been exploring rare penny coins in a series of videos.

In one of his videos, he urged viewers to search for a penny coin from 1919. This coin displays an image of King George V on the obverse (the head side) and a depiction of Britannia on the reverse.

However, it's a small initial on the tail side that makes this coin particularly valuable.

"Today we discuss the 1919 KN penny - KN meaning King's Norton Mint," the expert explained.

Of the two mints , the Kings Norton is by far the most difficult to get. The obverse shows a portrait of King George V. by Australian sculptor Bertram McKennel. George V was king of the United Kingdom and the British dominions and Emperor of India from May 6 1910 until his death in 1936. The reverse shows Britannia seated with trident and shield. It is the same as other pennies of that era with the exception of the KN Mint mark.
