From the Heart: The Kevin McAleer Story

Feb 02, 2025 at 04:06 pm

The film documents an Irish band's epic struggle to reach the top. Unlike the thousands of "success stories" told in music documentaries, this is the other side of the coin, a story of the fate that will inevitably befall most bands.

From the Heart: The Kevin McAleer Story

A new documentary film, LIR, charts the epic 25-year journey of a Dublin band destined for greatness, but ultimately doomed to fail.

The film documents the band's origins, having formed in the late '80s and quickly tipped to become the next U2. Three critically acclaimed albums followed, but commercial success eluded them.

Despite the setbacks, the band - named after the Celtic god of the sea - pressed on, enduring legal battles, collapsed record deals and near-death bus crashes on their relentless road to nowhere.

The documentary will premiere in The Sugar Club at 7pm on the 20th of March followed by an after party and a D.J set from LIR. There will be screenings in The Factory Cinema at 8pm and 9:40pm from the 21st-24th of March. Tickets are available from Tickets.ie.
