XRP Price Forecast: Why Long-Term Holders Could Win Big

Jan 31, 2025 at 05:30 am

XRP has remained a key asset for many investors, with some eyeing ambitious price targets. Crypto analyst, DustyBC Crypto News, shared insights on XRP's market behavior, investor psychology, and historical cycles.

XRP Price Forecast: Why Long-Term Holders Could Win Big

Cryptocurrency prices have been on a wild ride over the past year, and XRP has been one of the standout performers. The seventh-largest cryptocurrency by market capitalization has surged more than 120% year-to-date, easily outpacing Bitcoin's 40% gain.

But despite XRP's impressive performance, some investors are still wondering whether the asset can continue to rally. After all, XRP has a history of making parabolic moves, only to crash back down to earth.

However, according to one crypto analyst, XRP's long-term price performance is likely to be determined by the resilience of its long-term holders.

In a recent analysis, DustyBC Crypto News highlighted some of the key psychological price levels for XRP, as well as some of the technical indicators that suggest the asset is still in a long-term accumulation phase.

According to the analyst, XRP has played a "core" role in his portfolio for years, due to its potential for growth. He noted that XRP surged from around $0.5 to over $3 in a short period of time, underscoring the asset's history of making sharp price moves.

"I personally like to use key psychological levels for my targets, and for XRP, I’m looking at $3, $35, and even $314 as potential price points," he said.

Crucial support has emerged around $2.60 to $2.70, which could pave the way for further upward price movement. Moreover, the analyst observed that XRP's search interest has been declining even as the price has remained stable or increased, suggesting a bullish divergence.

"Less searching usually means short-term traders are leaving, and long-term investors are accumulating," he added.

Long-Term Holders vs. Short-Term Speculators

The crypto analyst also drew a stark contrast between long-term holders and short-term speculators, highlighting how the latter tend to miss out on the best gains.

He noted that XRP's core investors are known for their resilience, rarely selling during downtrends. In contrast, new entrants often buy during hype cycles and exit when prices fail to meet expectations.

"Many traders miss out on the best gains in the market by selling early," he said. "Historically, buying strategically during market dips has led to profits even if it takes a while."

Even those who bought XRP near its peak in 2017 have had opportunities to recover losses over time, he added.

XRP vs. Bitcoin: Market Position, Performance

In recent weeks, XRP has outperformed many other cryptocurrencies, despite trailing behind Bitcoin in recent years. As one of the top-performing assets in the top 10 and potentially the top 20, the analyst highlighted its position as one of the biggest gainers.

He noted that XRP's fundamentals are still strong, but its poor performance against Bitcoin could be due to regulatory issues, like the SEC action.

Historical Cycles: Is Another XRP Breakout Imminent?

Finally, the analyst addressed some concerns among investors that XRP's price action may follow the 2017-2018 cycle, which ended in a steep correction.

However, he argued that current trends differ significantly. The previous XRP bull run lasted only 24 days, while the current cycle has lasted nearly 90 days, he said.

"We're seeing strong price action, building support around $2, and the market structure is showing a potential breakout," he added. "With bullish sentiment still in the market, I don't think this cycle is over yet."

The analyst concluded his analysis with an optimistic outlook, reinforcing that long-term resilience has historically rewarded XRP investors. He noted that even in bear markets, relief rallies present opportunities, and patience is key to maximizing gains.
